The first computer in India
The first computer in India was TIFRAC (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Automatic Calculator), developed at TIFR, Mumbai. Started in 1955 and commissioned in 1960, it was created under the leadership of Dr. Homi J. Bhabha and a team of Indian scientists. TIFRAC marked India’s entry into indigenous computer development.
